Year 7 Games

Queen Elizabeth’s is proud of its games playing reputation and representative games are an important part of school life.

All boys are expected to commit themselves fully to maintaining this reputation. Selection for school teams is regarded as a privilege.

In Year 7 representative teams are fielded in: rugby (A,B,C,D XVs); cricket (A,B,C XIs); athletics (A,B,C teams), cross country (A,B,C strings); basketball and tennis.

Inter-school games take place on most Saturdays in the autumn, spring and summer terms and occasionally mid week. Parents are issued with a fixture list (games card) for the term, as soon as all fixtures are confirmed. Team practises take place both at lunch times and after school. It is a boy’s responsibility to check the team lists, and to arrive promptly and with the correct kit. On the rare occasions he is unable for selection, he must inform the master in charge in good time.

School uniform will be worn to all inter-school fixtures and behaviour must always be such as to bring credit to the school. Transport to away fixtures is provided.

A full programme of inter-house matches underpins the school teams and gives more boys the opportunity to gain representative honours.

Parents are always welcome to support the teams and this provides an ideal opportunity to meet other parents and staff in an informal way.
