Finishing the Award

When you have completed all five sections of the Award, you must complete some simple procedures before submitting your record book.

  • Download and print off from the Award's website the ‘gold award notification’ form (from the homepage select ‘any questions’. Go to ‘what you have to do’ and select ‘authorising awards. This is also available on the LRA). Complete this form in full.
  • Ensure that both your activities logs and record book are also completed properly. It is essential that dates, signatures, comments and targets are all completed.
  • Hand your record book, together with your activities logs and notification form, in an envelope to the award coordinator at school. These will then be sent off to the Duke of Edinburgh local authority for checking before being passed to the Duke of Edinburgh Award's Head Office.

It usually takes up to a year from submitting your record book to receiving an appointment to collect your award. Delays are most frequently caused by incomplete records being submitted (e.g. dates, signatures omitted).

Most students complete their award during the summer following their Year 13 final examinations. Students should return to school once their records are completed and speak to the Award Coordinator.
