Queen Elizabeth’s is rich in tradition and has a long history stretching back over centuries of which we are very proud; we are also a forward looking organisation keen to develop and innovate where we feel it will benefit our boys. We see our alumni as having an important role to play in linking past and future. Generations of alumni have been instrumental in helping the school to maintain and improve our facilities and therefore benefit school life.
Within the past decade, several major projects have been completed thanks to the generosity of the parents through the Covenant Scheme and the fundraising efforts of the Friends of Queen Elizabeth’s. These include the Friends’ Music Rooms, the Heard Sixth Form Centre, the state-of-the art Martin Swimming Pool and the Shearly Hall. A new Dining Hall and Library are currently under construction (see the image above for what the new building will look like).
These developments have undoubtedly made a huge improvement to the learning environment and to the school life in the fullest sense of the boys here. We have plans to embark on exciting further developments, but of course these, and simply maintaining the fabric of the building and grounds, are a costly undertaking. We would like to be able to invest in Queen Elizabeth’s so that its reputation as a school that sits among the very best can be maintained for generations to come.
