'Return to Teaching' placements at Queen Elizabeth's School

Queen Elizabeth’s offers school placements for qualified secondary teachers participating in the Return to Teaching Course, a Training & Development Agency initiative, run on their behalf by EM Direct.

The course is suitable for qualified teachers who have been away from the profession for at least 12 months and who wish to restart their career in education. More information can be accessed here.

Placements at Queen Elizabeth’s are tailored to the teacher’s individual needs and allow on-the-job experience to be gained of current teaching methods, including the use of ICT facilities as well as other skills required including behaviour management and assessment. The placement will last at least the minimum requirement of 19 days within the School.

The application process

Please email your current Curriculum Vitae and a covering letter to Angela Leonard, HR Officer, by clicking here. We will acknowledge your enquiry and may invite you for an informal interview.

Support

Once the placement is agreed, a timetable will be compiled comprising the required classroom element and other professional development activities. All those placed in the School will be assigned a subject mentor within the appropriate department, a professional mentor from the Senior Leadership Team, as well as administrative support.
