The School has received five consecutive 'outstanding' ratings from Ofsted, with the most recent adjudging the School 'outstanding' against all 26 criteria. In 2012, the Department for Education revealed that a higher proportion of boys from QE (66%) gained places at Russell Group universities in 2010 than from any other state school. QE's U12, U14 and U16 teams won their age groups in the 2012 National Schools' Chess Team Championships. Individual achievers include David Alam, who achieved the highest mark in the country for GCSE Geography and is now reading Economics at Selwyn College, Cambridge, after achieving four A*s at A-level.
