Parent Governor Caroline Martin, PhD leads the science, technology and innovation (STI) programme at the High Commission of Canada in London.
Her role involves facilitating research, development and commercialisation partnerships between Canadian and UK stakeholders in the public, private or third sectors. Fulfilling it requires close monitoring of developments in science & innovation policy and the UK research landscape, as well as regular liaison with senior members of the Government, universities and industry.
Prior to taking up the role, Dr Martin was an Associate Lecturer in Chemistry at the University of Cambridge and a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at University College London. She gained a PhD in organometallic chemistry and catalysis from Edinburgh University.
Caroline is a member of the FQE Executive Committee, where she has joint responsibility for hospitality; she can, therefore, be found helping at the numerous QE social events throughout the year. She has been a Governor since 2017.
