Sports Hall Planning
Queen Elizabeth’s School continually strives to provide the best possible learning environment for pupils. Over time this involves enhancements to our campus.
As part of the School’s vision to upgrade facilities, which in the past has involved high-quality developments including the Swimming Pool and Recital Hall, the School aspires to undertake further works that will offer a transformational learning experience and deliver benefits for both its pupils and the wider Barnet community.
The School has identified that major priorities are the need to upgrade indoor and outdoor sports facilities, refurbish and provide additional science laboratories to meet growing curriculum demand, and provide extended dining space / indoor social space.
Our long-term proposals include:
- A new Sports Hall for pupils and appropriate community use, given that the existing facilities are inadequate and at end of life
- 10 new classrooms (no increase to the number of pupils at the School)
- Additional Fives Courts
- Cricket nets (within the Sports Hall, and ECB compliant outdoor nets)
- Improved external landscaping
- The refurbishment of science laboratories within the existing Fern Building
Below you can find out about the scheme from the display panels used during the public consultation event. The consultation and subsequent planning process deals principally with project one (the Sports Hall, Fives Courts, cricket nets and associated landscaping enhancements).
