Queen Elizabeth’s is wonderfully situated on a 23 acre site on the edge of the Green Belt in High Barnet and within easy reach of central London.

The School is located on Queens Road, off Wood Street (A411), and is well served by public transport links. The School has no catchment area and so boys routinely travel to us both from within the local community and from a very wide geographic area.

Below you will find details of some of the more popular routes, as well as information on the school coach services currently provided by Hearns and Empire Coaches.

By tube/train:

High Barnet (Northern Line) is the nearest tube station, located about a 15 minute walk from the School. Bus services run frequently throughout the day, with routes 107, 263, 307 and 384 stopping near to or terminating at Barnet Hospital, which is opposite Queens Road where the school is situated.

New Barnet is the best connected National Rail station in the area, again with frequent buses to and from stops on Wood Street (107, 184, 307, 384) which is at the end of Queens Road.

By bus:

The School is very well served by bus links. Some of the most popular for our boys are:

  • 107 (from Edgware Station to New Barnet Station via Borehamwood and Arkley)

Routes 34 (Walthamstow Central Station to Barnet Church), 234 (Archway Station to Barnet, Spires Shopping Centre), 326 (Brent Cross to Barnet, Spires Shopping Centre) and 383 (Finchley Memorial Hospital to Barnet, Spires Shopping Centre) all serve Barnet town centre and are a 10 minute walk to the school from their terminus point.

An irregular service, 84B, also runs between Potters Bar and Barnet Hospital.

School Coaches:

There are currently ten routes, operated by our providers Hearns and Empire, to which parents can subscribe. These are local companies well regarded for performance and reliability. These coaches rely upon there being sufficient demand on an ongoing basis and routes may be subject to revision over time. Coach fees are paid termly and in advance.

Boys will only be permitted to embark/disembark at a particular pick-up/drop-off point on their chosen route.

By car:

The School is located approximately 2.5 miles from the Stirling Corner roundabout on the A1 and 3.5 miles from Junction 23 of the M25. The School sits in a residential area and is covered by a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). Parking is therefore very limited and we encourage boys and visitors to arrive on foot or by public transport wherever possible. The Spires car park, about a 15 minute walk away, is often a good option for those driving. We would remind parents and visitors to the School to take heed of our ‘dos and don’ts’ for drivers.
