Virtual Open Day 2020
In the 448 years since the foundation of Queen Elizabeth’s, the situation the School has faced over the past 15 months has been unique.
We were sorry that we were unable to welcome prospective families to Queen’s Road for our open day in 2020 and that this year’s event must be limited to those registered to sit the entrance exam in September. It is not possible to replicate the rounded experience that this occasion provides to our visitors and we hope to be in a position to resume the event still more widely next year.
However, we most sincerely encourage your continued interest in our School and look forward to welcoming many of you into our Elizabethan community in the coming years. We would encourage you to explore our website, read our brochure, and follow our social media channels for an insight into the life of the School.
On this page we have brought together a number of resources that you may find particularly useful, as well as providing some additional information videos, produced during the first lockdown in Spring 2020, in which senior staff detail many of the aspects of our academic, extra-curricular and pastoral provision that, together, enable us to fulfil our mission of producing confident, able and responsible young men.
The entrance exams for entry into the School in September 2022 take place in September 2021, with the deadline for applications to sit the test closing at noon on 16 July 2021.
Table topping
Queen Elizabeth’s is the top ranked state school nationally for examination results, placing first in the Sunday Times Parent Power Rankings in five of the last seven years. Boys also secured a record 40 places at Oxford and Cambridge this year.
Clubs and societies
At the last count there were nearly 90 different extra-curricular opportunities to choose from at QE, so there should be something for every boy’s interests. If there isn’t then students are frequently supported to establish new societies for them and their peers.
Hours of voluntary service
In an average year, QE boys collectively contribute upwards of 7,000 hours of voluntary service in their local communities, with all those in the Sixth Form expected to participate. During lockdown, staff and boys have been supplying critical PPE to the NHS and volunteering in local hospitals.
Robotics titles
In the five seasons that QE has participated in VEX Robotics, the boys have been five times national champions and became the first ever British team to win a World Championship. In total they have amassed over 120 titles, with more teams fielded than ever thanks to our new robotics suite.

"For me, Queen Elizabeth's represents a place of higher learning; a place where teachers are committed to providing a quality education; a place where questions are encouraged and enthusiasm flourishes. In bonds of friendship and memories that will last forever, the School community goes from strength to strength.
"No words can truly describe it, because the School is unique; special in every way."
